Nick Lawson was in high school in Kansas City when he started shadowing hospital physicians during a summer program designed to introduce young students to medicine. He loved it.
After medical school in Kansas City, Dr. Lawson entered the Army and completed his residency in Hawaii. He spent four years of active duty caring for children of military families in Georgia and Colorado and caring for young soldiers as a Squadron Surgeon in South Korea.
Caring for children with ADHD is of particular interest to Dr. Lawson. He is experienced—and enjoys—taking care of kids with Trisomy 21/Down syndrome. And he is drawn to helping kids with asthma, allergies, and eczema. Dr. Lawson works to educate parents so they will feel more at ease and in control of their child’s care. Once a child reaches adolescence, he stresses the importance of teaching them how to be healthy and take care of themselves.
The opportunity to interact with a variety of people every day appeals to Dr. Lawson. His intention is to make a connection with his patients and their families and provide a service that will make a difference in their lives.
Dr. Lawson is excited to be living and working in the Twin Cities where he often spent time visiting good friends. He likes sports, playing the guitar and hiking with his wife and his dog.
